Lucara’s first Exceptional Stone Tender of 2014 achieves strong results

The first Exceptional Stone Tender of 2014 of Lucara Diamond Corp. concluded on April 10, 2014, with all lots being sold, reports say. This special tender offered diamonds from the Karowe mine in Botswana, consisting of 20 single stone lots of 1,191 carats in total, reports add.

Of the lots sold, the highest values were generated by the 167.-carat diamond and the 86.8-carat diamond, as they sold for $12.7 million and $5.1 million, respectively, reports say. Fifteen of the diamond lots were bought for a value of over $1 million, amongst which eight were sold for over $2 million, reports add.

The auction in total generated gross revenues worth $50.47 million, or $42,347 per carat, reports suggest.

In the first quarter of 2014, the company also held two regular diamond tenders selling 107,500 carats worth $33.6 million in the two tenders, reports say.
