To make understanding and implementing the Dodd-Frank Act more easily, the Jewelers Vigilance Committee will host a 45-minute webinar, reports suggest. The webinar entitled Supply Chain Assurance for Gold and Tungsten is slated on April 7, reports say.

During this webinar, JVC will be conducted by JVC Senior Counsel Suzan Flamm, explaining the fundamentals of the Dodd-Frank’s conflict mineral provisions, impact on the jewelry industry and necessary steps to implement a supply chain assurance program, and resources to cope with challenges including JVC’s supply chain assurance kit.

The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act requires companies which are listed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to disclose if any of their products are made with gold or tungsten are not conflict-free (conflict minerals refer to those that benefit armed groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or one of its nine neighbouring countries).
