Gitanjali to start SEZ operations in August

Gitanjali Group will commence manufacturing operations at the 200-acre Hyderabad Gems SEZ (HGSEZ) in July-August 2007. The group will set up the first gems and jewelry unit employing about 3,000 people.

The group will invest INR450 crore ($106,944) in the first phase and Rs250 crore ($59,428) in the second phase of the project.
About eight big factories employing more than 15,000 people will be operating from the HGSEZ by the end of 2008, the company said.
