Japan’s polished diamond imports drop 3% in August

In August 2013, polished diamond imports into Japan dropped 3 percent (on y-o-y basis) to $64.5 million. The said imports rose in volume terms by 47 percent to 200,512 carats, reports add. The average price of diamonds declined 33 percent to $322 per carat.

According to region-specific imports of polished diamonds, from India it stood flat at $35.2 million, from Belgium it rose 52 percent, while from Israel it dropped 31 percent and it dropped 41 percent from Hong Kong, reports add.
