India’s polished diamond exports rise 22% in June

In June 2013, polished diamond exports from India surged 22 percent (on y-o-y basis) to $1.478 billion, while the volume of the said exports increased 7 percent to 2.776 million carats. Imports of polished diamonds rose more than twice to $695.31 million.

The country’s net ‎polished exports (valued as excess of exports over imports), dropped 16 percent to $783.5 million.‎

In the said month, rough diamond imports rose 15 percent to $ 1.373 billion and rough diamond exports dropped 1 percent to $111.75 million.

The net rough imports (valued as excess of ‎imports over exports), rose 17 percent to $1.261 billion.‎

The net diamond account in the month stood in a deficit of $477.91 million (the same was in a deficit of $146.82 million in June 2012).
