Sotheby’s New York Magnificant Jewels sale struck a record in sales of white diamonds sold in the Americas, as well as a record in its own Spring sales. A 74.79 ct. D-color, pear-shaped potentially internally flawless diamond bought for over $14 million, broke the said record of white diamonds, reports suggest.

The sale, slated on April 17, 2013, churned revenues worth over $53 million, a record for Sotheby's spring sale.

Other lots in the sale included six pieces from Jay Gould, which were bought for $7,905,250, (more than twice their combined estimate). A 22.48 ct. emerald and diamond brooch, a 21.46 ct. square emerald-cut diamond ring, a 37.07 ct. cushion-cut diamond ring, a Cartier “Tutti-Frutti” bracelet were amongst other notable lots sold.
