The first edition of the India Gem and Jewellery Fair (IGJF), a B2C gem and jewellery show organised by the Gem and Jewellery Export promotion Council, failed to gather much visitor interest. Although the first edition received a strong participation with around 80 companies and 180 booths, yet the show did not attract the number of visitors as expected.

The event was hosted across four days at Pragati Maidan in new Delhi and also coincided with the IIJW New Delhi edition.

Few exhibitors opined that the publicity by GJEPC may have been strong but the venue of Pragati Maidan was something unattractive to elite consumers of Delhi. Deepak Choksi of Jud Jewellery says, "Had it been some five star hotel, the response would have been quite better."

Duggar of Imperial Gem and Jewellery says, "We have received an average response so far, it make sense for us as we always been exhibiting eastern part of India, this show has given us chance to cater to North India".

The publicity through advertisements was notably less as also the coverage for the show in leading newspapers, during the event. Nirmal Bardiya, who also visited the show said, "The show has potential, probably not this year, but in coming years, it will get better".
