Gandevikar Jewellers has launched Lavina, a lab-grown diamond jewellery brand aimed at Gen Z consumers. The launch marks the Vadodara-based jeweller’s entry into the lab-grown diamond segment.
The move comes as lab-grown diamonds gain attention among younger jewellery buyers in India. Recent industry commentary has pointed to Gen Z increasingly viewing diamonds as self-expression and seeking products aligned with personal preferences and purchasing considerations.
Gandevikar Jewellers, which traces its business history to 1927, operates from Vadodara. Its existing jewellery business includes gold and diamond jewellery across bridal, heritage and contemporary categories.
The launch of Lavina gives the retailer a separate brand proposition for lab-grown diamond jewellery while retaining its existing natural-diamond and gold jewellery operations. The company’s website states that its diamond jewellery carries IGI certification.
Lab-grown diamonds are increasingly being incorporated into jewellery offerings by Indian retailers and specialist brands. The category has also seen dedicated brands emerge from established jewellery businesses, with bridal and engagement jewellery among the segments being targeted.
For retailers, the expansion of lab-grown diamond offerings reflects a broader shift in how younger consumers approach diamond purchases. Industry coverage has noted demand for diamonds beyond traditional occasions such as weddings and anniversaries, with younger buyers increasingly incorporating them into everyday jewellery.
Gandevikar’s launch of Lavina adds another established jewellery retailer to the growing number of Indian businesses developing dedicated propositions around lab-grown diamonds.
