PD Institute hosts its annual function and awards night

With a traditional lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, PD Institute, an institute providing professional training in the field of gem and jewellery, held its Annual Function and Award Night themed “Avsar”, at the B.M. Birla Auditorium, Jaipur. Mr. Pramod Darda, Chairman, PD Institute welcomed the guests, while the institute’s academic head Mrs. Tripti Daga presented annual report of the institution. The chief guest of the evening Mr. Rajiv Arora, Vice President, Rajasthan Foundation, guest of honor Mr. Nirmal Bardiya, President, Jewellers Association Jaipur, Special Guest Mr. Sunil Agarwal, Chairman, Vaibhav Gems Limited and other prominent personalities from Gem & Jewellery industry graced the occasion. The chief guest and guest of honor presented certificates and award to the students of institute.

Winners of the grand finale of IMAGINATION 2011-12, a jewellery competition organized throughout the year by P.D. Institute were awarded at the event. Akshay Agarwal from Meerut won the first prize – a ‘Tata Nano car’ upon winning the “Designer of the Year” title. Four other prizes had also been awarded. Runner ups included - Simran Tak (second place), Manish Singh (third place), Shraddha Kochar (fourth place) and Dushyant Dave (fifth place) awarded Honda Activa as second prize, LCD TV as third, Refrigerator as fourth and Music System as fifth prize respectively.

The event also hosted a fashion show where for the first time in Jaipur, semi precious stone beaded jewellery was showcased on the ramp. The jewellery, sponsored by R.R. JEWELLERY, Jaipur, included bridal, ethnic, traditional, fusion and corporate day wear. The jewellery was designed and manufactured by R.R. JEWELLERY. The evening saw the institute’s students and Aryans Dance Group present dance performances.

On the occasion, Mr. Pramod Darda noted the increasing need of skilled manpower in the gem and jewellery industry. Darda said that P.D. Institude was commenced with the aim of promoting career and building awareness of career & entrepreneurship in the field of gem and jewellery. A social cause initiative was added to the annual event of institute which included a blood donation camp in association with Jain Social Group Topaz. Chief guest Mr. Rajeev Arora, guest of honor Mr. Nirmal Bardiya and special guest Mr. Sunil Agarwal also shared their views on the industry’s present and future scenario and on the need for skilled and trained manpower. The fuction was ended by thanks giving speech from managing director Mr. Kamlesh Jain.
