INHORGENTA MUNICH, a trade show and platform which upholds contemporary designer jewelry, in collaboration with Preziosa Young 2013 – the international jewellery designer’s competition honoured New York designer Lauren Vanessa Tickle for her jewellery creation – ‘ Increasing Value’, crafted out of US dollar bills, silver, latex and synthetic thread.

Each year, INHORGENTA MUNICH together with Preziosa Young honors young designers for their outstanding jewelry design. Renate Wittgenstein, Product Manager of INHORGENTA MUNICH mentioned that, “With this award, we would like to offer young jewelry designers a springboard to introduce their work to an international audience from the trade. We look forward to welcoming Lauren Tickle at INHORGENTA MUNICH 2014 on 14 - 17 February 2014.” Ms. Tickle gets a free participation to the total value of EUR 2,000 and thus has the opportunity to present her works of art in the special exhibition area ‘Innovation Forum’ in Munich in February 2014.

In her work, Lauren V. Tickle deals with the subjects of values and adornment. As such, to explore values, banknotes of a definite value are taken apart into graphic elements and are finally assembled into jewellery of a much higher value. “I force wearers of jewelry and observers to reflect on the concept of adornment and decoration in our society. One of the most conscious of human decisions is what or what not to wear”, explains the 27 year old designer. As a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design (Master of Fine Arts, Jewelry and Metalsmithing), eh already holds the credit for exhibiting at numerous exhibitions in the last five years.

For this year’s Preziosa Young, pieces were submitted by a total of 225 jewelry artists up to thirty-five years of age. Eight finalists will exhibit their work as part of a special exhibition in Florence at the Marino Marini Museum of contemporary art from 21 June to 20 July 2013. The pieces from the competition were already previewed at INHORGENTA MUNICH in February 2013. There will be a further chance to see the jewelry in Legnica, Poland on the occasion of the Silver Festival 2013.
