Lakhi family donates 30kg gold platter at Somnath temple

A Mumbai-based family with a business of repute in the diamond industry – Vishindas Holaram and his son Dilip Lakhi, have donated a gold platter of around 30 kg to the revered Somnath temple of Gujarat. The offering is believed to be around Rs 11 crore, reports say.

The donation was brought to the temple in a procession, reports add.

The platter was donated by diamantaire Dilip V.Lakhi, his four brothers and their families. The piece was designed and crafted by artisans in Delhi.

The Managing trustee of the Somnath Temple Trust P K Laheri noted that the Lakhi brothers who visited the temple some months ago had vowed to donate a gold ‘jyotirlinga’, upon seeing the then silver jyotirlinga.
