IIJ hosts 7th edition of creative fest - Aakriti

Various different traditional Indian art forms were explored and experienced at the 7th edition of Aakriti, a creative fest organized by the Indian Institute of Jewellery (IIJ), The platform Aakriti was created by the IIJ as an annual creative fest, to honour India’s craftsman and spread awareness about these ancient forms of art amongst the youth.

This year saw students, their parents and some from the corporate sector participating in the workshops, learning about traditional Indian art forms including Papier Mache, Meenakari, Sanjhi Art, Paper Jewellery, Enamelling, Jewellery Manufacturing, Manual Design and CAD. The techniques were further used to create jewellery pieces, like bracelets made by Sanjhi art and Miniature Paintings.

The workshops were held between 6th to 8th September 2012 at IIJ Campus, Mumbai. IIJ had organized these workshops at nominal fee of Rs.300 and encouraged students to live the experience of their creations by taking home their jewellery pieces. Attending the workshops were karigars from Paramparik Karigar - an association for promoting the creative crafts, who displayed their creation at Aakriti.
