GIA organizes seminar for Ladies’ Wing of the IMC

The GIA (Gemological Institute of America) recently organized a seminar entitled – ‘World of Gemstones’ for the members of the Ladies’ Wing of the Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC).

This tour took the attendees to an experience of understanding rarities and origins of various gemstones, a history of popular gemstones throughout the world, tips on how to care for jewellery. The seminar also informed the attendees about GIA’s programmes on gems and jewellery. The attendees also got a guided tour of GIA’s laboratory in Mumbai.

“GIA has always shared our wealth of knowledge with the public to help ensure trust in gems and jewellery,” said Manoj Singhania, education director of GIA in India and the Middle East. “Informative seminars like this help consumers develop an active and informed interest. This is first of more such initiatives to come.”

The Ladies’ Wing of the IMC, founded in 1966, encourages the spirit of entrepreneurship to its more than 1700 members. “We are thankful to GIA for an insightful session on gemstones. We appreciate their efforts in bringing transparency through their grading and education practices,” said Darshana Doshi, president of the IMC Ladies’ Wing. “Such information and awareness is of vital importance for our members looking to enter the jewellery business or even as consumers of these gemstones.”
