Net sales at Birks & Mayors rise 5%

Birks & Mayors notes its sales to be ‘overall good’ in the period between October 30, 2011 through December 24. The retailer witnessed a healthy sales turnout mainly in the pre-holiday period, with lesser than expected sales in the weeks closing in on Christmas time.

For the almost three months, the retailer’s net sales jumped 5 percent to $79.5 million (y-o-y), and same-store sales were up 3 percent. Comparable-store sales in Canada rose 4 percent, rose 2 percent in the U.S. According to the retailer the average sales increased in the said months.
