Sight holder wins national award for Unity Efforts

CHANDRAKANT Sanghavi, the convener for the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) in the Gujarat region, received the �Rashtriya Ekta Samman -2006� award in Delhi, on August 22, 2006. The award was instituted by All-India National Unity Conference (AINUC), in memory of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi

The awardees are selected based on outstanding services, achievements and contributions in various fields. The award recognises efforts to strengthen national unity and promote economic development. Previous winners include Mother Teresa, Russi Mody (Tata group), Navjot Singh Sindhu (cricketer), Prof. Kasturirranjan (chairman ISRO), Sushmita Sen and Nandita Das (actresses).

Chandrakant Sanghavi is a partner in the Diamond Trading Company (DTC) sightholding group Sanghavi Exports. He is also chairman of the Indian Diamond Institute (IDI) and president of the Gujarat Hira Bourse
