GLIMPZ 2011 unveils raw jewellery talent

GLIMPZ 2011, which launched various jewellery designs and ideas created by the 5th Batch of students of the 3-Year Diploma (2008-2011) Course at the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery, Mumbai, was inaugurated by Ms. Varuna D Jani, Director of “Varuna D Jani Fine Jewellery Ltd.” The presence of leading personalities of the Indian gem and jewellery industry including Chairman of the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery, Mumbai, Mr. Vasant Mehta, Vice-Chairman of Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Mr. Sanjay Kothari, Members of the Board of Directors of IIGJ, Members of the Advisory Board of IIGJ, Jewellery Industrialists, and Media Persons, added boost to the students’ efforts.

This year, the students presented mechanical innovations in jewellery ideated on various themes for the global markets. The entire project was executed under the able guidance of the Project-in-Chief Mr. Surinder Karandikar, and the Faculty of the Institute. The designs have been documented in a CD which eas released on the occasion by Chief Guest Ms. Varuna D Jani. Adding her experience to the student’s talent, she studied the exhibits to further guide students. Also, Mr. Vasant Mehta, Chairman of IIGJ, advised the students to continue upgrading their technical knowledge and expertise and keep up the spirit of dedication and honesty in their career.
