Sotheby’s Hong Kong auction expected to generate USD 60 million

Sotheby’s Hong Kong is organising an auction on April 6, 2011, offering diamonds, gemstones and jewellery. A pair of diamond pendant earrings designed by Harry Winston is one of the highlights at the auction. It is crafted with ‘a pear-shaped diamond weighing over 14 carats hanging below another oval diamond’ as reported, and is estimated by the auction house to sell for USD 4.8 million.

The auction will also offer a 27.67 carat Burmese ruby (estimated sale price: upto: USD 2.5 million). This is a ruby "pigeon's blood" diamond and is sourced from Burma's Mogok mines. There is also a piece of jewellery from Chinese culture - a jadeite bead necklace with a clasp set with rubies, sapphires and diamonds. Its estimated sale price is up to USD 4.5 million).

Sotheby’s is expecting the overall auction to generate around over USD 60 million.
