India’s total gem and jewellery exports in September 2010, valued US$ 4,061.87 million, rising by 56.09 percent from US$ 2,602.26 million worth of said exports in September 2009. There was a 36.41 percent increase in value of cut and polished diamond (C&P)exports amounting to US$ 2,398.57 million (September 2009: US$ 1,758.37 million).
Despite its rising prices, exports of gold jewellery climbed a steep 113.48 percent to US$ 1,508.29 million (September 2009: US$ 706.51 million).
Coloured gemstone exports dipped by 25.12 percent, to US$ 29.98 million (US$ 40.04 million in September 2009).
