The Antwerp diamond industry is participating in a large group of 40 companies at the 23rd Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair from June 24-27, 2010. Hong Kong’s diamond market along with Mainland China account for around 25 percent of Antwerp’s polished diamond exports.

Antwerp exported $250.8 million worth of polished goods to China in 2009 in addition to $1.85 billion worth of polished diamonds to Hong Kong, a major portion of which would eventually be sold on the Chinese market. Owing to a rise in Chinese consumers’ jewellery purchase, this share is likely to increase.

In the first five months of 2010, Hong Kong imported 22.7 percent of Antwerp's polished diamonds in financial terms at $846.1 million, representing an increase of 36.2 percent on the same period in 2009. This year the Antwerp Diamond Pavilion will be located in two areas of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. The June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair has been reputed as Asia’s largest mid-year jewellery event. The Marketing Department of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) has launched a dedicated website for the event at www.antwerpdp-hk.com.
