A new CIBJO Commission by the name of CIBJO Association Executive Networking Commission (CAENCOM) was formed and introduced to the delegates of the 2009 CIBJO Congress in Istanbul, Turkey. The CAENCOM is the first CIBJO Commission to have been created in more than a decade.

Ken Mulhall, president of the Canadian Jewellers Association conceived the idea of the CAENCOM, which would help develop networking strategies that can keep connect executives working in national jewellery associations continually connected with the CIBJO community.

Mulhall said, "At this year's congress, we intend to run an Association Executive Panel consisting of three or four association executives who will present and share one of their own association's successful programs with the audience. During this session, the moderator will open the floor to identify current challenges for association executives, and through the spirit of sharing, solutions will be suggested.”
