Israel to serve as Chair of KPCS in 2010

The State of Israel will be serving as Chair of the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) in 2010, as per procedures of the KPCS, reports say. Israel had served as Vice Chair of the KPCS in 2009. Binyamin (Fouad) Ben Eliezer, Minster of Industry, Trade and Labor has appointed Mr. Boaz Hirsch, Deputy Director General for Foreign Trade as Chairperson of the KPCS during Israel's tenure as Chair, reports say.

In its role as Chair of KPCS, Israel will ensure a continued implementation of the KPCS, ongoing activities of the KPCS working groups, and would work towards maintaining the effectiveness of the KPCS.
