In response to the widespread concern over the spread of Human Swine Influenza (Influenza A HINI) across the globe, organisers of the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair have announced that the show will carry on as usual. The event being organised by UBM India, will be held between June 18 - 21, 2009, at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre with over 1,100 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions. Participation at the fair will include group pavilions from Antwerp, China, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States.

UBM India has published health guidelines for those attending the fair, suggesting frequent washing of hands. The organisers have also arranged for onsite hygiene counters, face masks and a medical team at the fair grounds, while following health and precautionary guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Department of Health in Hong Kong or the Ministry of Health of the PRC.
