Rio Tinto to host Champagne Diamond Design Competition

Rio Tinto Diamonds has organised a ‘Champagne Diamond Design Competition’, inviting aspiring jewellery designers to interpret their creativity in exhibiting the full colour range of champagne diamonds. The intent behind the contest is to celebrate the popularity and allure of champagne diamonds.

There are four categories to the contest and the overall winner would be honoured with the title of "Champagne Visionary." All the top four winning designs will be showcased during a nationwide traveling exhibition across leading jewellery retail outfits during the holiday season.. The last date for the contest is July 1, 2009, while the judging will tale place on July 14, 2009by a panel of fashion and jewellery professionals New York City.

Rio Tinto mines champagne diamonds from its Argyle Diamond Mine, which is the lead supplier of the champagne diamonds.
