The Spanish market is soon to receive diamond education courses, following a cooperative agreement signed between HRD and Madrid-headquartered GEMACYT – Laboratorio Gemológico. The courses will be customised for jewellery retailers in Spain, according to each firm’s specific requirements.

The courses will span over one, two or three days, conducted on the clients’ premises or at GEMACYT during the week-end. Participants will develop their skills using polished diamonds, diamond imitations and treated diamonds. Equipment will include 10 X loupes, gemmological microscopes and other technology developed by HRD Antwerp.

The focus of the programmes is to raise the level of diamond-related knowledge and expertise of a jewellery retailers staff, and hence improve the level of retailers’ service to their own clients. This in turn will enhance both consumer confidence and loyalty. Graduates of the courses will receive diplomas issued jointly by HRD Antwerp and GEMACYT, attesting to their participation and will become eligible for a day of hands-on instruction at the GEMACYT laboratory.
