The American Gem Society (AGS) has planned a unique celebration for its 75th anniversary, which falls in 2009, by inviting for the first time, non-members to its annual membership gathering of the American Gem Society Conclave. Mark Moeller, president of the American Gem Society, said “On this milestone anniversary for the American Gem Society, we want to bring our members – and this year, our honored guests – together for an event that will educate and inspire for years to come”. He expects the Conclave to be the most grand since its inception in 1937.

The agenda of the Conclave will include educational programme, hands-on workshops, a special president’s celebration marking the organisation’s anniversary and talks by notable speakers. Also, a two-day Supplier Showcase will be conducted, allowing AGS suppliers to display and sell their gems and jewellery in a private setting. “This year we are offering our guests the very best,” said Ruth Batson, executive director and CEO of the Society. “The Supplier Showcase will bring together our industry’s best manufacturers and the best retailers.” As a finale to the Conclave, a Fashion Show will be hosted, with models presenting jewellery from the suppliers.

The Conclave is scheduled to be held from April 1-4, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago hotel.
