Organised by the Surat Diamond Association at Avadh Uthopia, the event featured 73 exhibitors from Surat and Mumbai, displaying an extensive range of loose polished diamonds, diamond-studded jewellery, and industry tools. Notably, two lab-grown diamonds weighing 38 carats each were the showstoppers this year, drawing attention from domestic and international buyers.

The event drew footfall from across India—buyers came from cities including Jaipur, Jodhpur, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Kochi—as well as international visitors from Dubai, Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.

Among the exhibits, 12 stalls were dedicated to diamond tools, 10 to jewellery, while the remainder focused on loose polished diamonds. The show was inaugurated by Surat Mayor Daxesh Mawani in the presence of BJP MP Govind Dholakia. Mawani also urged organisers to consider hosting an extended 8–10 day shopping festival in the city, inspired by Dubai's retail events.

Exhibitors expressed optimism about the expo’s impact on business development. Jagdish Ahir of Bansi Diamonds shared that his company saw significant gains this year. “Even in a slow market, this platform helps us build valuable, long-term connections that translate into annual turnovers in crores,” he said.

Ahir, who began as a diamond polisher at age 14 and now runs a successful jewellery business with international reach, highlighted the role of such exhibitions in expanding customer networks and boosting sales.

Surat Diamond Association president Jagdish Khunt confirmed the positive response from participants and said there is growing demand for the exhibition to be held twice a year. “The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Exhibitors are keen to see this format repeated more frequently to sustain momentum,” he noted.

Carats 2025 reflects the resilience of the diamond industry in Surat—a city globally renowned for its diamond cutting and polishing—and its ability to adapt through innovation and outreach.
