Profit after tax up by 55 % for Asian Star

The first quarter of the current fiscal, ending June 30 2008, has spelled three months of achievements for Asian Star, as reports add. The company ventured into Indian retail, with the launch of its first outlet - Shagun Jewels at Somajiguda in Hyderabad.

Adding to this, are good performances in the financial register, with profit after tax increasing by 55 per cent, amounting to Rs.11.91 crore ($2.8 million). In the same quarter last year, it stood at Rs.7.69 crore ($1.8 million). Also, net sales saw a surge of 7.4 per cent to Rs.345.86 crore ($80.4 million), in comparison to the same period last year, when it amounted to Rs.322.05 crore ($74.9 million).
