Macau has been chosen by CIBJO as the venue for the 2009 CIBJO Congress, as stated by CIBJO President Dr. Gaetano Cavalieri. The Congress would be held between March 2-5, 2009 and will include as chief hosts MJS Trade Fairs (Macau) Ltd., the organizers of the Macau International Jewellery and Watch Fair. The fair is to host its second edition in 2009, prior to the CIBJO Congress, from February 28 to March 3, at the Macau Venetian hotel, which will also double as the Congress venue.

Cavalieri was a keynote speaker at the first edition of the Fair said” "The show organisers have the support of all major Macau governmental and semi-governmental organisations that cover investment and export promotion as well as international trade relations and business development. Macau is an absolutely exciting venue!"

Macau is a former Portuguese colony, which like neighbouring Hong Kong, is now a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China. Cavalieri made the announcement of the Congress venue following a meeting of CIBJO's President's Council held earlier this month in Antwerp.

MJS Director Sunny Liu said he and his colleagues were elated at the prospect of bringing the leadership of the world jewellery industry and trade under one roof at the Macau Venetian."
