diamond world news service

The World Gemological Institute (WGI) introduced in a small way, a new method to detect the fluorescence in diamonds. Called the World Loupe™, the same was unveiled at the JCK Las Vegas Show recently held, during which 1,200 loupes were given away as freebies. The loupe provides both a white light component and a UV light for detection. Now the WGI is looking at the possibilities of making this concept widely available by increasing its manufacturing and adding a price tag to it.

The WGI look at this initiative to help the retailers better their deliverables through improved methods. WGI is an international diamond grading and research centre and part of the Israel Diamond Institute group of companies.
