diamond world news service

GIA’s (Gemological Institute of America) industry-leading and globally-recognized diploma and certificate programs educate professionals with the skills needed for success in the gem and jewelry industry. A scholarship from GIA helps make achieving those educational goals financially attainable. There are need-based and merit-based scholarships available for this year to those who qualify. Need-based scholarships are accessible year-round for prospective U.S. students; these require a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). GIA is accepting merit-based scholarship applications from prospective U.S. and international students starting April 15, 2023, until May 15, 2023, for classes starting July through December 2023. GIA will accept merit-based scholarship applications for classes starting in 2024 beginning in August 2023.

“One of the most important ways we ensure consumer trust and confidence in the gem and jewelry industry is by making our education accessible to students and professionals throughout the supply chain to help them improve their knowledge and skills,” said Duncan Pay, GIA senior vice president of education and chief academic officer.
