It has been close to a month since Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) started its operations as the Government of Maharashtra allowed resuming of manufacturing activities with 10 per cent of the work force. Strict measures were taken by the authoriries of BDB and staff were allowed to enter the premises with all precautions in place.

On June 5, the BDB, as per the amended Government guildelines began phase wise opening of its premises and released a fresh set of guidelines. Despite restricting the number of access cards, staff from a few well known companies in BDB have managed to test positive for Covid 19.

Diamond World understands from its sources that staff from as many as seven diamond companies tested positive. These companies have been either partially or fully closed for operations for the next few days. Diamond World got in touch with the authorities at BDB for a comment, but they were unavailable for the same. A penalty of Rs10,000 has also been charged on those companies who have not been following strict social distancing measures.
