The jewellery exhibitors at the Baselworld 2008, have encountered lower footfalls than expected. The Indian and Chinese pavilions had lower number of visitors during the first two days. Contrary, watches and the ‘prestige’ brands’ variety are attracting much footfall. The jewellery at the BaselWorld reflected some new offerings than last year; increased use of small diamonds in pave settings and use of colour. The designs were no longer just targeted at the US consumers, which account for high purchases but also at fresher markets. Yet the footfall did not match up to the new offerings.
