De Beers offers N$2.1 million as donation

To help NIMT build its training campus in Nothern Namibia

De Beers said that it would make a donation of N$2.1 million (US$301,000) to assist the Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT) in setting up its Northern Campus in Tsumeb.

This initiative of De Beers was announced by Chairman Nicky Oppenheimer at the inaugural ceremony of the De Beers Namibia Fund. The fund has been formed to support Corporate Social Investment in Namibia, with NIMT being the first recipient of the programme.

NIMT offers training to artists and is locted across two campusus, with the main building in Arandis. The Northern Campus has enrolled 64 students in the first year, and around 214 are expected to enroll by 2009.
