PJSC ALROSA recovers 60.32-carat rough diamond

PJSC ALROSA, the world leader in diamond mining recovered a large 60.32-carat rough diamond and according to experts, the rough diamond costs about USD 174.5 thousand.

Octahedron crystal, transparent with yellow hue, was recovered by dredge No. 203, Processing Plant No. 3 within Mirny Mining and Processing Division, from Gornoye alluvial deposit. It is the only plant in Russia that processes rough diamonds recovered by dredging fleet. Gornoye alluvial deposit was discovered in 1956. It is located on the left bank of Malaya Botuobiya river, 26 km south-east of Mirny.

Apart from Gornoye placer deposit, Mirny Mining and Processing Division develops Mir and Internatsionalny underground mines, Vodorazdelnye Galechniki and Irelyakh placer deposits, and Tailings from Processing Plant No. 5 (technogenic deposit). In 2016, Mirny Mining and Processing Division produced almost 5.3 million carats of rough diamonds ─ 21% of all rough diamonds mined by ALROSA Group.
