GJSCI signs MoU with IIGJ and JAJ to train and certify artisans

An opportunity for artisans of Jaipur opened up, following a tri-party agreement signed between the Gem and Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) the Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IIGJ), and Jewellery Association, Jaipur (JAJ). The initiative is under RPL programme Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) Scheme.

According to the agreement, IIGJ – Jaipur will be the RPL training facilitator, JAJ will be the Mobilization Agency and GJSCI as Project Implementation Agency (PIA). GJSCI has committed to certify a minimum of 10,000 artisans within the next 6 months.

The MoU was signed by GJSCI chairman Prem Kumar Kothari, IIGJ principal Dhiraj Kumar and Jaipur Jewellers Association president Nirmal Bardiya, as per reports.

According to Premkumar Kothari, Chairman, GJSCI, “Jaipur is one of the prominent jewellery markets housing large number of artisans who are skilled yet uncertified. The tri-party MoU will enable us to educate and certify the artisans through RPL as this is the core motive of GJSCI`s initiative and we are looking forward to it”.

A panel discussion entitled ‘Essentiality of Skills’ unfolded after the MoU signing ceremony, and comprised of industry experts including Nirmal Bardiya (President-JAJ), Rajesh Dhamani (Honorary General Secretary), Pramod Agrawal (President- IIGJ-Jaipur), Premkumar Kothari(Chairman-GJSCI) and Dhiraj Kumar (Principal,IIGJ-Jaipur) being the moderator.
