Antwerp World Diamond Centre to hold Diamond Conference on October 15 & 16

Theme of the year: ‘Producer countries: changing the industry dynamic’; Speaker for the conference is Nobel Prize winning economist Joseph E. Stiglitz

The Flanders Congress & Concert Centre (Elisabethzaal),will proudly host the coming Antwerp Diamond Conference on October 15 & 16 organised by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre.

Titled ‘Producer countries: changing the industry dynamic’, the main thrust of the meeting would be on the changes in producer countries.

None other than Nobel Prize winner for Economis, Joseph E. Stiglitz, would grace the occassion as the main speaker for the conference. Stiglitz has served as World Bank chief economist from 1996 to 1999. He has also served on the U.S. Council of Economic Advisers from 1993 to 1997 under President Clinton.

Also present at the event would be Javier Solana, the High Representative for Foreign Policy and Defense of the European Union.

Leaders from several African diamond-producing countries are also due to attend the Antwerp conference.

The event will be follwed by a gala dinner at the Waagnatie, which is a reconverted warehouse on the bank of the Scheldt River.
