A seven-member delegation led by Vasant Mehta, Vice Chairman, GJEPC visited China from March11 - 17, 2007. The prime objectives of the visit were to identify the areas for joint ventures and setting up of manufacturing units in India and vice-a-versa, and to enhance the bilateral trade relations and to mark further areas of cooperation.

The delegation comprised mainly manufacturers and dealers of diamonds and diamond studded jewellery. The delegation toured Panyu & Shenzhen where they visited some factories and a lab supported by the Gem & Jewellery Trade Association of China (GAC). The delegation also visited the Shanghai Diamond Exchange.

Vasant Mehta made a presentation on the Indian precious Industry and the opportunities that lay in front of India & China. It was attended by 45 dealers/retailers from Shanghai. The presentation served as a platform for the Indian delegates and the Chinese counterparts to throw open their doubts on doing business with each other and to clarify on various aspects of business.

The delegation visit proved to be fruitful in propelling the bilateral trade relations further. The visit enabled a healthy dialogue with the Government Officials and the wholesalers/manufacturers of China.
