Valued at $100 million, a blue star sapphire, weighing 1404.49 carats was recently discovered in Sri Lanka and is believed to be the largest such. According to the country’s gemologists, the sapphire was discovered at a mine in Ratnapura, also known as the 'City of Gems', as per reports.

The stone is predicted to even be sold at $175 million in auction.

This stone surpasses the record held by a blue star sapphire of 1,395 carats, as per reports. The 1404.49 carat stone has been named the 'The Star of Adam' by its current owner.
