Angola’s diamond production up 9.7% in October

In October 2015, Angola’s diamond production rose 9.7 percent to 800,000 carats, mainly influenced by the performance of the Catoca mine which yielded production of 576,776 carats, reports say.

Angola’s diamond exports took a 16.9 percent dip when viewed on y-o-y basis. The month’s diamond exports stood at 624,000 carats worth $86.1 million. In value terms, the diamond exports reflected a 40.4 percent fall, or $138 per carat, as per reports. The value of diamond exports in 2014 from Angola stood at $144.5 million, or $192 per carat, for 751,100 carats being exported.
