The field of diamond detection will be highlighted with a dedicated platform, as Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) in association with Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) will organize a Diamond Detection Expo & Symposium (DDES 2015). The event is slated between December 15-16, 2015 at the BDB in Mumbai.

The aim of the event is to see the trade network with companies involved in machines and equipment related to synthetic diamond detection, leading laboratories and service providers, reports say. Two segments would be part of the event – one of product showcase where companies will display their expertise, and the second would concentrate on imparting knowledge through seminars including topics like various techniques to detect synthetic diamonds and updates on developments in this area, as per reports.

This initiative is an extension of efforts by GJEPC and BDB to stop the undisclosed mixing of natural and synthetic diamonds. To this effect a Natural Diamond Monitoring Committee (NDMC) was formed with representatives from the GJEPC, BDB, GJF, GIA and other trade bodies in the sector.

The entry to the event is free for all trade members involved in diamonds and diamond jewellery but a registration is required for the seminars, as per reports.
