The Israel Diamond Exchange’s (IDE) renovated diamond technological service centre was inaugurated recently, during a ceremony at the diamond trading hall. This was a day preceding the International Diamond Week in Israel (IDWI).

Amidst an attendance of diamantaires from home ground and international locations, the ceremony was opened by Shmuel Schnitzer, President of the Israel Diamond Exchange. He spoke of the “the usefulness and convenience” of the diamond technology service centre for Israeli diamantaires in that he hoped ‘the means we are providing to diamond manufacturers will be fully utilised and will assist in the expansion of diamond production in this country,” would see full usefulness for a diamond manufacturer and would support the expansion of the country’s diamond production’. He further added that the centre’s re-opening was one of the efforts taken up by the IDE and underlines the ‘continuation of the history of the Israeli Diamond Industry,’ reports say.

At the ceremony, Israel’s Diamond Controller Shmuel Mordechai stated that he hoped all would make ‘good use of the technology wing, which serves as a home away from home for everyone who wishes to make use of its services,’ reports say. At the close of the ceremony, a mezuzah (a Jewish tradition of affixing parts of the Torah text to a doorpost) was attached at the entrance of the technology wing located in the diamond trading hall of the Israel Diamond Exchange, reports say.
