Low key market conditions being attributed to the slow pace

diamond world news service

There has been a delay in the approach of diamantaires to book their space in the planned Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB), despite showing much interest, reports say. It was about a month ago, that the Bourse body received almost 12,000 letters from the diamantaires in Mumbai and Surat showing interest to occupy space in the facility, as per reports. Reports also suggest that when the committee had to accept token amounts from the interested parties for the booking, none of the diamantaires came forward.

The low key trend in the diamond industry currently is what is being attributed to have affected the execution of the SDB. The facility is to be built at the project at the proposed Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City at Khajod. The committee has had to cancel bookings for the third time in the past five months, reports add. It expects the project to be further delayed.

The Bourse is planned to be built with 10 buildings with each floor interconnected; total of 10,000 offices and an available building office space of 91 lakh sq. ft. with a parking space of 20,000 cars and 35,000 two-wheelers.
