India’s gem and jewellery exports slip 6.14% in February

February recorded a dip of 6.14 percent (on y-o-y basis), in India’s overall gem and jewellery exports, reports say. Cut and polished diamond exports in the said month rose 4.36 percent. In value terms in February 2015, these exports stood at US$ 2,293.37 million (US$ 2,197.51 million in February 2014), and in volume terms it was 3.01 million carats (3.3 million carats in February 2014), as per reports.

Rough diamond imports dropped 23.17 percent (on y-o-y basis) to US$ 1,121.04 million. The said imports were 11.38 million carats in February this year, slipping from 13.5 million carats in February 2015.

Gold jewellery exports decreased 39.7 percent (on y-o-y basis) to US$ 443.79 million, reports say.
