Two diamonds worth HK$26.5 million were stolen on the last day of a jewellery fair at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, says a report.

A report was made to police by an exhibitor who said he found the two diamonds missing when checking the stock at the close of the five- day exhibition. The jewellery was exhibited in Zone H on the third floor of the exhibition center. The case has been classified as theft and the Wan Chai criminal squad has been put in charge of the investigation. A preliminary investigation found that none of the CCTV cameras captured the theft. Investigators were last night going through CCTV footage recorded since the opening of the show, adds a report.

In another incident, on March 2, six women from Hunan tried to switch fake diamonds for two real ones but were discovered by the staff. They were arrested by police and a diamond costing HK$1 million recovered. The second stone valued at about HK$500,000 is still missing.

That happened on the first day of the International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show held by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council at AsiaWorld-Expo. The five-day event concluded on March 6, 2015.
