Gold import measures to be discussed between industry and government

The Commerce Ministry is expected to meet industry members on the issue

A meeting is expected to be held between the Indian gem and jewellery industry and the Commerce Ministry, to address gold imports. This subject has met with much regulations from the government, regarding its duty, import quantum, and also requests from the industry for ease of reforms. The meeting is expected to culminate ways to assure the industry of supply in a manner which is beneficial to exporters and the does not lay pressure on the Current Account Deficit (CAD), reports say.
