The growing demand for diamond jewellery in China is prompting Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Ltd. to enable itself of long-term diamond supplies, reports say. For this it plans to invest in stakes in diamond mines, reports say. The company is considering options in Canada, although it has been approached by many mines for investment.

The company operates diamond processing and cutting units at present and is going to consider its investment in mines based on consideration of political, economic, employment factors, in the countries where the mines are located, reports add.

The company had recently acquired the Hearts on Fire diamond brand, and is looking to open five stores in the Asian market by early next year and expand beyond, reports say.
