The star of the event is the 31.86-carat pear-shaped gemstone, named the Desert Rose. Expected to fetch between $5 million and $7 million, the diamond will headline Sotheby’s jewellery auction, marking a milestone debut for the international auction house in the UAE capital.
The Desert Rose forms part of a single-owner collection of rare watches and jewellery, spanning vintage and contemporary signed pieces, with a combined estimate of over $20 million.
Collectors and enthusiasts can also look forward to standout timepieces, including an exceptionally rare Rolex “Oyster Albino” Daytona, reference 6263, produced in the late 1960s and early 1970s, valued at $500,000 to $1 million.
Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week, scheduled for 2–5 December on Saadiyat Island, will bring together exhibitions, auctions, masterclasses, and panel discussions. The programme aligns with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, further elevating the emirate’s position as a global destination for luxury, culture, and high-value collectibles.
With its mix of fine jewellery, watches, collector cars, real estate, and international art, Sotheby’s inaugural Abu Dhabi showcase is poised to draw global attention—and the Desert Rose is expected to be its crowning jewel.
