In a landmark development for the global diamond industry, Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK) has become the first company to achieve a carbon-negative footprint per carat for natural polished diamonds.
The announcement, timed with World Decarbonisation Day, marks a significant climate-positive milestone—demonstrating that crafting natural diamonds can actively reduce carbon emissions. Across its operations, SRK has achieved a carbon footprint of (–)0.239 kg CO₂e per carat and an overall organisational reduction of (–)893 MTCO₂e, as verified by Deutsch Quality Systems under ISO and GHG Protocol standards.
The achievement is backed by SRK’s long-term investments in solar energy, water recycling, net-zero energy-certified infrastructure, and ethical sourcing. The second edition of its Pure Impact Report outlines these efforts and presents verified data on the company’s environmental performance.
As sustainability becomes a key purchase driver—especially among Gen Z and millennial consumers—SRK’s carbon-negative milestone positions natural diamonds as both responsible and radiant.
