The center, accessible at diamondlearningcenter.org, aims to enhance understanding of the differences between natural diamonds, laboratory-grown diamonds, and diamond simulants.

The Diamond Learning Center serves as the first free, mobile-friendly educational resource tailored for both new and experienced diamond jewellery professionals. Offering a flexible, a la carte learning experience, the platform includes rich and condensed content sourced from various mediums such as videos, infographics, and self-quizzes. This makes it a valuable supplement to existing technical diamond education available in the marketplace.

Addressing Industry Challenges

The initiative stems from an educational roundtable hosted by the Natural Diamond Council, which identified widespread confusion and bias in the retail diamond sector. This collaborative discussion included leaders from across the diamond value chain, such as AGS, De Beers, Diamex, Fischer Diamonds, Gabriel & Co, GIA, IDMA, Jewelers of America, Jewelers Mutual, Premier Gem, and Shane Co.

“It has been wonderful working with the Natural Diamond Council to create tools and education to help train our jewellery consultants on the history, allure, and benefits of natural diamonds,” said Price Blanchard, Chief Customer Officer at Shane Co. “A more educated sales team will help customers understand the rarity and value of natural diamonds, ensuring they make informed purchasing decisions. We anticipate that this education will lead to increased sales of natural diamonds.”

Key Features of the Diamond Learning Center

  • Quick Learning: Short videos, ranging from 30 seconds to 3 minutes, answer more than 25 frequently asked diamond-related questions.

  • In-Depth Modules: Self-paced, 20–30-minute courses covering topics beyond the traditional 4Cs of diamonds. Participants earn Certifications of Achievement in areas such as:

    • Differences Between Natural and Laboratory-Grown Diamonds

    • The Allure of Diamonds

    • The History of Diamonds

    • Debunking Diamond Myths with Facts

  • Train the Trainer: Workshops and facilitator guides designed for store and training managers, developed by natural diamond experts.

  • Additional Resources: A directory of third-party technical education materials from industry institutions.

  • Marketing and Research Tools: Free downloadable social media assets, digital content, and point-of-sale materials, along with the latest diamond news and market trends.

With the launch of the Diamond Learning Center, the Natural Diamond Council aims to bridge knowledge gaps within the industry, ensuring sales professionals and consumers alike have access to accurate and comprehensive diamond education.
