The annual awards, which celebrate both established names and rising stars, recognised jewellery that embodied enduring beauty, emotional depth, and exceptional craftsmanship. The winning designs were unveiled for the first time at the event’s dedicated showcase within the Design Collective lounge, followed by a celebratory cocktail reception that brought designers and guests together in an atmosphere of creativity and connection.

Honouring Visionaries Across Generations

This year’s awardees represent a diverse spectrum of design philosophies and industry experience:

  • Penny Preville was honoured for five decades of timeless, elegant design leadership.

  • Kouzoupis Jewellery, a Greek heritage brand, was recognised for its artisanal craftsmanship shaped by nearly 75 years of tradition.

  • Benjamin King of Diamonds De Canada impressed with storytelling-driven pieces using natural diamonds from the Northwest Territories.

  • Stella Song, a recent GIA graduate, stood out for blending modern aesthetics with classical elegance.

  • Simon G. Fine Jewelry received accolades for its mastery in uniting technical innovation with refined design.

  • LÖF by Morgan Mackintosh, a self-taught talent, brought a bold, intuitive perspective to contemporary fine jewellery.

Each design was evaluated on its originality, craftsmanship, innovation, and consumer appeal by an esteemed panel: Susan Helmich (Susan Helmich Design), Tracey Ellison (The Diamond Girl), Veronica & Louis A. Guarino (Louis Anthony Jewelers), and Magdalena (Maggie) Hess, Founder of the awards.

“We’re proud to celebrate not just the brilliance of these designs, but the powerful stories and personal journeys behind them,” said Maggie Hess. “The future of our industry is as luminous as its past.”

Celebrating Legacy and Championing the Future

The awards ceremony was made possible by the support of industry leaders including the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), World Gold Council, Platinum Guild International, Jewelers of America, Rapaport, and JCK.

John Mulligan of the World Gold Council underscored the importance of sustainability in luxury: “Gold is more than a precious metal — it’s a symbol of responsibility. Let’s create with care, so our brilliance doesn’t come at the planet’s expense.”

Jenny Luker of Platinum Guild International reflected on Hess’s mentorship and love for platinum: “Jose always said platinum was ‘like butter’. He recognised its purity, longevity, and radiance — qualities that continue to inspire new generations.”

Nicole Garcia, Executive Director of Alumni Development at GIA, paid tribute to Hess’s educational roots: “Jose believed that brilliance was born through learning. These awards carry forward his commitment to nurturing talent with knowledge and purpose.”

A Radiant Keepsake

As a token of the evening, each guest received a limited-edition “Radiance” bracelet from Jose Hess Designs, engraved with the message: “Radiance lives in you” — a fitting symbol of the light each honouree brings to the world of jewellery.

The 2025 edition of the Jose Hess Design Awards not only celebrated exceptional artistry but also reaffirmed the industry’s dedication to innovation, mentorship, and meaning
